IN 1985 WTCN CHANGED IT'S CALL LETTERS TO WUSA BUT WHEN GANNETT PURCHASED WDVM IN WASHINGTON DC, THEY MADE THAT STATION WUSA AND THE TWIN CITIES CHANNEL 11 BECAME KARE 11 WHICH IT STILL IS TODAY
NANCY NELSON IS A TWIN CITIES NATIVE WHO GOT HER START ON TELEVISION WHEN STILL A TEENAGER, HOSTING A DAILY LIVE
LOCAL DANCE SHOW.
WHILE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA, NANCY WAS CROWNED MISS MINNESOTA AND FINISHED IN 2ND PLACE IN THE
MISS UNITED STATES PAGEANT
SHE WENT ON TO BECOME THE
SATURDAY NIGHT "WEATHER GIRL"
ON WCCO BEFORE GOING TO WTCN.
SHE ALSO ACTED ON THE LOCAL STAGE
AND IN MOVIES FILMED IN MINNESOTA
SHE THEN BECAME A NEWS ANCHOR AND REPORTER IN LOS ANGELES BEFORE TRANSITIONING TO RADIO.
