SORBONI BANERJEE HAS LEFT FOX 25

From Boston Media Watch, FOX25 Morning Anchor
Sorboni Banerjee has left the station.

“Sorboni Banerjee is no longer with WFXT FOX 25,
and we wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors,”
a station representative told Boston Media Watch.
Sorboni is moving to Tampa, Florida to be closer to her husband, former FOX25 freelancer Jarrod Holbrook. The couple is expecting a baby in late November.

Sorboni, who has been with the station since 2012, was promoted to morning anchor earlier this year. Sorboni originally served as an anchor/reporter for the FOX25 Morning News when she joined the station, but moved to evenings when the station launched a 5pm newscast in late 2013.
Before moving to WFXT, Sorboni was an anchor and reporter at crosstown rival WHDH for 5 years. During her nearly 9 years working in Boston, Sorboni has covered a large amount of stories, including the tornadoes that struck Western Massachusetts in 2011 and the presidential primaries in New Hampshire in 2008 and 2012. Sorboni has also traveled with the Red Sox and Bruins on their world championship victory tours and secured high profile interviews after the capture of mobster James “Whitey” Bulger.

Sorboni came to Boston from Providence, Rhode Island, where she was the morning anchor at WLNE-TV ABC 6.

Sorboni got her on-air start at WHAG-TV NBC 25 in Hagerstown, Maryland as an anchor, reporter, and political correspondent. She joined the station in 2002 as a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter before being promoted to anchor of the station’s 5pm newscast in 2003. While working as a political correspondent for the station, Sorboni primarily covered Annapolis, the capital of Maryland.
